Introduction!

Hello, my name is Vanessa and I am a Senior in High School. I decided to take the A- Level of Media Studies due to my growing interest in Film. Thinking about it almost all summer, I realized my "interest" towards forensics was basically none. Then, film. It was like a light from the heavens, FILM. It has what I desire in a job, physically doing an activity that isn't that repetitive and boring, like a office or researching job. Plus I actually enjoy editing and creating something that will provide entertainment and amusement to others.

I had been thinking of my A-Level film from before summer started, it will be my redemption from last year. I couldn't kill my character last time and now I have the opportunity to kill my character off. I almost started writing my blogs due to how many ideas, and conflicts, I had come up with. I knew that I had to get into this class and create this film one way or another.

I have a strong endearment towards the Arts. Constantly listening to music, drawing whenever I get the motivation to, consuming films, jewelry making, crochet, etc. I would be nothing without Art. I couldn't imagine my life without gaining or creating all forms of art. I like to appreciate the process for how people create, like watching time lapses for people drawing or reading how people have came up with ideas for stories. It's extremely interesting watching how people observe through their eyes.

Over the summer, I had watched a few movies. Instant Family, it had some fascinating edits, specifically the scene where Pete was looking at all the foster kids and their pictures were "floating" behind, next to, everywhere in front of him. There were also some transitions where a person walking across the screen will change the scene. It had a heartfelt story, as well. Another film I watched was Midsommar, one of my now favorite films, that I probably won't watch again. There was a ton of foreshadowing, through pictures that were incorporated into the story, which made it easier for me to understand the story. The color play/ symbolism also played a strong role, warmer and cooler overlays depending on what relationships with characters or actions. It was an extremely strange movie that I can't bring myself to re-watch.

I have a genuine interest in filmmaking and I can't wait to create my film this year.

- Prop/ Costume/ Set Dressing

For the Props, I will be making SpongeBob and Patrick out of clay. Since they both move their limbs and facial expressions quite often, I may have to make multiple figures and different expressions.

Bubble/ sphere clay painted

Bubbles are needed as it's the conflict for the clip.

A blue/ grey background (bathroom)

- Sound Plan

I most likely will use the sound from the clip (MOS), however, if I have time and energy I can try to make the sounds. I feel that would add so much more to this monstrosity.

Swede: Spongebob Movie

The scene is Spongebob and Patrick playing with bubbles in the Spongebob Movie. I feel like this scene will allow me to be less serious and create something silly, rather than impactful. I rarely do assignments to have fun and the relative point for Swedes is to replicate, while the result doesn't have to be perfect or good. The way I'm going to create the scene won't involve actors, but rather things I create. The characters barely move (besides their limbs going everywhere), the background is a solid pink and there isn't a lot of camera changes. Mostly Wide Angle shots, with the occasional close up to each character, meaning simple, easy edits and almost never physically moving the camera to get different angles.

Doing this scene won't benefit me in any way for my film, but maybe it's better to do something I wouldn't normally do, maybe I'll get more ideas on what to add to my film. It also could not benefit and it just be a fun little project.
