The postcard idea would be to have the flowers and vase, since it is the beginning and end of the film. This will also keep the expectation that the film will be a normal, cute love story. It would be extremely bright, but the letters will still be red to represent blood. The audience of the postcard may think that the letters are meant to pop out against the bright background, however it's actually red for blood.
The idea for the postcard.

The coloring for the postcard. Extremely bright and eye-catching.
I feel that I could also go a darker route. The other idea kept the expectation denial in mind; however, I feel that having a card that relates directly to the story could be even better.
This artwork, that I didn't make, uses the Hanahaki Disease for a character.
The idea for the darker postcard. Made by @maikol_with_a_b on Twitter.
If I were to do something like this, it would be more accurate to the overall film. Although, it would remove that element of surprise and the expectation would be that the story is cute is gone.
I would actually take a side profile picture, with the flowers and blood all over me. It would use a real life photo, where I would have drawn the flower and vase postcard.
When reviewing our footage in class, I'm going to ask which idea is better to get some feedback on what other people may think.
I had shown the idea to Talia and she thought the bloody postcard is a much better idea, which I think so too.
Plus the red lettering wouldn't look so out of place anymore!
