48. Editing Day 2 (Bathroom)

Most of the shots I liked, there were only a few things I absolutely want to change.

Shot 1: The beginning of the scene. I had filmed this quite late in the evening, meaning it was dark outside and there was no light coming through the little window. The audience wouldn't know that there's a window, but having the shot start from pitch black wasn't the best choice.

For some reason, the left wall looks flat, like the wall of the door is just a continuous wall, but there's a towel rack on the left wall. The whole shot looks extremely odd and I will be re-filming this by slightly angling to the left, so the audience can see the corner.

The shot of the bathroom; the wall that looks off is pointed to (red arrow).

Flower in the sink shot: The issue is mainly I didn't have my hand reaching a grabbing it. I hadn't drawn this in the storyboard/ thought of it at all until I was editing. I decided to put it between a shot of me reaching for the flower, at a side profile, to add a little bit more chaos to the calm.

The shot sequence of V reaching for the flower in the sink. The first clip shows my right arm reaching, the second of the flower in the sink (with no hand reaching for it) and the third where V picks the flower up.

Diegetic flower transition: I had not planned this at all. This was a thought that I had while filming and I absolutely love it. The only problem is I can only see this as a scene (location) transition, rather than a regular transition in the same scene. It may not fit in, but I want to try to have it be an 'emotional' transition. Right before V physically panicking, it is a silent panic (both from knowing that LI is right there and for how bad the disease is getting). That's what the transition would be, mental to physical.

Drawer of flowers: I was mostly nervous, in case I stained the inside with the fake blood, so the real shot I imagined, I couldn't get. It's just way too empty (I also didn't realize how big the drawer was). I will refilm this shot, plus showing the flower fall into the drawer from that height to, just to see how it looks. Next time, there's going to be more flower petals around and maybe some blood, if I can find a way to have it not on the drawer itself.

For that overhead shot, it looks blurry and dark. The light doesn't reach to the drawer so I would have to lighten the shot some other way. As for the blurriness, just make sure it's in focus, there's not much more I could do. There's multiple shots with that similar effect and I don't know why.

The overhead shot of the drawer, you can see the shadow darkening the colors of the flowers. Also showing how empty the drawer looks.

Overall: There needs to be more angles for me to create a fast paced, panicked scene. I did have a front facing shot of V, but something about it looks wrong and I didn't want to use it. I am going to get a higher shot of me washing my face, to have it quickly change from lower to higher. There will be a shot, with me looking in the mirror, where V changes her expression to calm.
