52. Editing Day 3

In editing, after ordering and looking through the whole film, I realized how poor it is overall with the lack of deep focus shots. There was absolutely nothing I could do because even when I was behind the camera, to get the deep focus, it would not work. I practiced and looked through multiple tutorials on how to deep focus with Rush, I could do it sometimes, but not all times somehow. Overall, the film doesn't have the same effect for focusing the audience to a specific point, but there was nothing else I could do.

As for what I have to re-film/add into the film, they are meant to create a smoother transition and add more emotion to the overall story.

Room: There needs to be some shot after LI leaves the side of the bed and when V coughs, like actually seeing LI walk away or anything to make the straight cut less obvious and less awkward. There, V's expression instantly changes to a worried/nervous expression with no build up, so I would also have to re-film that to draw out the expression from calm/happy to nervous and then cough.

The close up of what was in my hand didn't look good the first time because of the angle I had done (recreate pic) was in the perspective of V, which would confuse the audience on what the position the camera is in, to then go right back to the previous angle. So to fix that, I would re-film that shot again in either the same angle the previous shot was in or from the side. This would also keep the 180 degree rule working and not broken, like I had done before.

The old shot of petal in her hand.

Bathroom: There is an awkward transition from the flower drop and V washing her face (vid). The bathroom itself wasn't completely filmed, but it's good to realize there has to be something in that area, or switching clips around, to have a smoother transition of clips.

The section where the flower drop leads to an awkward transition.

The bathroom wasn't chaotic enough. The shots when V is at the sink should be the peak of stress and I didn't get the shots showing V's face in that sequence, so it looked off. When I get those clips, I would quickly change from the hands to V's face to get a chaotic looking shot.

There also wasn't a shot of V's expression at the end showing her going from stressed to calm, which I have to film, using the mirror again.

Park: The only thing I had forgotten was getting reaction shots of V looking confused about what LI is saying (right between "Just a hunch." and "Look swings!").
