15. Characters

The characters are the Victim (V) and the Love Interest (LI).

I decided to be the V because the set is mostly at my house, so it's more convenient for me in case I have to reshoot something. There's also the fact that the V will have to cough fake blood out of their mouth and if anything were to go wrong, like accidentally consuming it, I'd rather it be me than someone else.

The character herself will be very in love with the LI, longing stares (long takes of V) or constantly looking towards her. V would be always smiling around LI to try to remove any indication that she is dying, then when V is alone in shots, she would be sadder and weak looking, like the disease is physically paining her. It could be like curling her shoulders up and hunched up, frowning or fidgety to add more emotion to the character; it'll show the pain this disease is causing and maybe foreshadow that this film won't have a happy ending.

I want to try to make the film a little brighter when it's in V's perspective, to give emotions that can't be verbalized or expressed other-ways because of the 5 minute time limit.

It isn't exactly what I would do, since this is changing actual features, but the softer lighting and lighter hair is what I would try to do.

LI will be relatively bland. There won't be much indication of her love towards V, probably until the end or she has small glances towards V when she isn't looking just to have a bit of character building and for the audience to raise some questions.

Talia does have very exaggerated expressions, which I want to play with. LI could just be a very happy character who is always smiling and excited. Ironic since both characters do have the disease and both are trying to keep it a secret by acting like nothing is wrong.

There isn't much I can do with the characters in this time and I will heavily rely on editing to give an idea on their relationship.
